How LiDAR Works in Big Bat Cave

This post is about how LiDAR works in a cave.  It works about half as well as it does on the surface.  The collection distance is half of what the machine is capable of.  There is no way to collect imagery (RGB Data for the nerds among us).  Everything is slick so moving equipment is a huge chore.  It just shouldn’t work but with the right volunteers it does.  Click on the following link and Ben does a pretty good job of explaining how we get the data that we get.
